that's how many miles I'm gonna run this Sunday.
Wish me luck! (I'm hoping not to pass out or die)

Slumber Party!
You know what the awesome thing is about having a futon for a couch?
Turning it into a bed and piling all of the pillows you own on it to watch a movie!
Saturday night after the Guggenheim Dan and I tried out the futon as a bed and it was wonderfully comfortable. It was nice to be able to stretch out and get "bed" comfy but still be on the "couch" in the front room!
I think we'll be having lots of slumber parties this summer...

The Gugg
Saturday night last weekend, we met up with some friends to check out the Guggenheim museum. It was "donation" night meaning you could pay whatever you wanted instead of the $10-20 they normally charge. We decided to be nice and pay $5 and I'm reeeeeally glad we didn't do anything more. You see, I don't really understand modern art. Mostly it's just creepy. We started at the top of the big spiral...
And slowly made our way down through the terror.
There were a couple of pieces that were interesting, but only once we understood what it was about thanks to the also free! audio guide. I think a lot of the pieces were trying to challenge the traditional view on reality and how you perceive the world around you.
I mostly just thought they were weird or scary.

Shower Curtain...
I haven't been able to find a shower curtain that I like to put in our new bathroom. Our new shower is also ridiculously tall and wide making it difficult to find a ready made curtain that fits unless I want to buy 2 separate curtains. So I thought I might be super ambitious and maybe with the help of a sewing friend (Ashley S.... : ) I could make one. I found these two fabrics that I like and that match the color scheme (gray and yellow). Now I don't know how much more impossible it will make my task using fabrics that are so highly patterned, but they're so cute! and I want to add a little more pattern to the fairly plain bathroom.
What do you think?
Option 1:
(I love that this is a modern floral and has both the gray and the yellow in it)
Option 2:
(I am mildly obsessed with chevron patterns right now and this would give me that pattern without having to get angry at myself for spending hours and hours trying to paint a wall this way.)
What do you think?

My job is not a dream job...
Since the first phone call on Monday morning at 7:45am, I have hated my job as not just one but two families of mine have gone out of control. And every single of of the three sessions I've had to have with other families has turned out crap-tastic, once again leaving me feeling completely inept and inadequate at my ridiculous job and thinking I should go hide under a rock and these people would probably be better off.
What is the point?
Social services sucks big time a lot of the time.

Lightning & Thunder
This commercial cracks me up every single time. I have no clue why and I feel like an idiot when it does, but I love it : )
Do you have a ridiculous commercial you love?

Why my mom and I are twins
A couple Sundays ago we were talking about family with some friends of ours on our way home from church. We got on the subject of which parent we're most like and Dan went off about how crazy similar I am to my mom.
As you can see in the picture we look pretty similar. We also have the same knock knees, the same walk and a ridiculous amount of the same mannerisms. The first time Dan met my family he was a little freaked out watching my mom act exactly how I act and vice versa. I think there's a lot of my personality that is similar to my dad, but my outward appearance and mannerisms and reactions are all mom. And I love it : ) I wish I could be more like her and I hope that as I grow older and continue to develop into who I am, I'll be more assertive and more take it or leave it with who I am.
I know I'm a bad daughter and didn't send you a mother's day card yet and I'm late in telling the world how much I looooooooooove you : ) but here it is! I'm glad I'm your twin.

Mother's Day
On Saturday, we went out to CT to celebrate Mother's day with Dan's family. It was good times as usual. Nice and relaxed... except for Nicholas, near the end he got pretty wound up and this was the only shot I could get of him. Definitely blurry from his overabundance of energy.
He's getting so big!
And I had to take pictures of my mother-in-law's yard. I still can't get over how green and lush everything gets here on the East Coast.
Huge leaves!
Gorgeous flowers every where.
Then on Sunday Dan kept telling me to make the bed. He sent me a text after he left for church, but I didn't see it until after I got on the train (and I definitely had not made the bed). Then after church I was trying to get changed and settle in and he kept bugging me to make the bed with him. I'm pretty sure I was a little snappy with his demands. But when I went to lift up my pillow...
I had my favorite candy, a smutty magazine (my weakness) and a hilarious mother's day card (No this is not an announcement for anything, I promise!). Isn't he a good husband? I like him : )
That evening we got to talk to my brother Connor on the phone. He's on a mission for our church and can only call home on Mother's day and Christmas, the rest of the time we write letters and emails. It was fun to listen to him (he does most of the talking in the conversation because that's just how Connor rolls : ) And of course I chatted with my mama. I get to see her so soon! The difficulty of the half marathon will be tempered with being able to hang out with the mom which will definitely be good times!
Yay for mom's!

Jamba in the park
On Saturday, Dan's mom came to see the new apartment and help drive us around to get some needed essentials. After an afternoon of errands, we picked up some yummy jamba juice and sat in the union square park. I couldn't believe how gorgeous the weather was. Almost getting to the too warm stage. But it was beautiful and seemed like everyone was out enjoying the sunshine!

Yay for springtime!

Boxes, boxes and more boxes
Here's what our entry way looked like Sunday night after unpacking for a few hours...

To give you some perspective, here's my Dapper Dan man in the frame...

Good times with the moving. The kitchen is basically done (I have so many cupboards! And no dishes broke, yay!), the bathroom is functional (but not cute at all yet), bedroom is somewhat arranged and functional and we can actually see the floor in the front room again! Hallelujah brother!
Slowly but surely, we're gettin there!
