Job Fair

Today I went to a job fair at Columbia. It was interesting but not really productive for several reasons.
1. I can't get hired until July 28th. Who wants to hire me now for a few weeks and then let me go for two months for the wedding extravaganza? I wouldn't want to hire me!

2. It was open to several social work schools in NYC, which means oodles of people trolling around trying to meet and greet. How in the world am I going to stand out to them?!

3. Whenever I went up to a table, they already had stacks of resume's. Mine will probably be the one that gets lost.

And it was a downer because I realized I have a whole stinkin lot of competition. But on the upside hopefully since I'll be jumping into the job market later than all of the normal graduates, there won't be as big of a competition and I can do what I want : ) And I got to learn a bit more about the agencies I was interested in.

It also made me want this...
I love J.Crew suits. They are ridiculously expensive (jacket=$238 and pants=$138, yikes!) but I think they look updated and young. Some of the gals at the fair were wearing old boring suits which did nothing for their figures and made them look much less fashionable than I have seen them at school. Who says a suit has to make you look stuffy?! And I think the real key to looking good in a suit ladies, is getting it tailored. Men have to do it, why shouldn't we? So if you got a new suit to go job hunting, go get it tailored now and quit looking frumpy!

Pearls of wisdom by Maddie : )

PS. sorry for spelling suit as suite. As dad would say "I are a college graduate."
