Oodles of wedding photos

So I've turned into one of those ridiculous girls who posts her wedding pictures all over the place all the time. But I figure my fam-bamily doesn't all have access to the myriad of pictures I've posted on Facebook, so this is for them! Here are some of my favorite pictures from our awesome photographer Cesar. (There are a lot, but this is waaaaaaaaay slimmed down, I promise!)
Going to see my man for the first time.
Look at his happy smiling face!
Love how the dress is hanging and love how he's looking at me.
I heart veils! (which is amusing because I wasn't going to have one at first).
So happy!
Love my parentals!
I heart peonies.
Coming out of the Temple after being sealed
Super Tender! : )
I'm a sucker for veil's floating in the wind pictures.
Isn't he attractive?
I heart books : )

So those are some of my favorites from before the reception. Maybe I'll get around to posting some from the reception another day : )

The Met

This last Saturday, Dan and I went to the Met with Julie, Zaneta, and another Dan. The other Dan through his connections was able to get us all free lunch at the cafeteria there. This is amazing because the food there is outrageously priced and it made us feel like we were on the cruise again, loading up whatever we wanted...
Not a good pic of Dan but it demonstrates a little bit of how much we piled on!
Then we toured the Met of course. Julie made friends with the voodoo doctor.
Dan and I shared some tender times in front of the Egyptian Temple.
Dan felt for the poor knight with only a bit of chain mail to protect his manhood.
We wandered around and made fun of modern art....
Except Jackson Pollock because who doesn't love Jackson Pollock?
Dan held staring contests with various unwilling (and unknowing) victims.
I felt bad for the dignity some statues had lost.
We were pretty tired by the end of it all!

Sometimes I get really annoyed with living in the NYC. Shopping is a nightmare, prices are outrageous, public transportation is most frequently not all that it's cracked up to be, and it flipping hot and humid right now! But then I get to go some place like the Met for the day and I remember that this is one of the most amazing cities in the world and it does have it's good points. : )

This and that...

Last Wednesday there was a crazy lightning storm during the night. This is what the sky looked like when the sun set...
Really really pink (the pics don't do it justice)
It was a little foreboding.
And here's our bedroom. Mostly for the fam bamily who will probably won't be making the cross country trek any time soon or climbing up our 5 flights of stairs...
and yes that is a great big world map above our bed. it's old school looking and the colors go well with our bedroom and I needed something big to put above our bed ok! If you find something as cheap and easy to install as this let me know and I will improve this in an instant!

In other news...

After completing my 2nd day of training for my new job, I am now CPR/1st Aid certified. If any of y'all go and collapse, I supposedly will know exactly what to do. Maybe if you collapse in the next few days I'll actually remember, but after Sunday... I kinda doubt it.

And we are connected once again...

First things first. I would like to express appreciation to my closet friends for commenting on my last post and giving me some validation. You are good friends : )

Now on to the turtle. I would like to introduce you to Miss Harlem Aphrodite Thomson.
Miss Thomson, my peeps.
"well hello. I really can't take any time out to chat, I must continue to admire myself in the reflection and attempt to swim through the wall."
"and pose for my glamor shots of course."
"I am a rather independent turtle. I don't like extra attention and these new people I'm with scare me a little."
"That's why I always hide under my basking dock whenever they come near me."

Yeah our turtle definitely has an independent streak. She basically wants nothing to do with us. She won't even eat her food until we've stepped back a little. I'm hoping that with time she'll finally get it through her little pea sized brain that we don't want her for turtle soup and that however fast she swims into the wall, nothing will happen. There is no other turtle nor is there more water.

One can only hope for one's children to get smarter as they grow.

Announcement!

Well I have some BIG announcements.

1. Dan and I added to our family and now own a turtle. It is a female turtle. We are still trying to decide a name. But we love our little girl.

2. I am officially hired at New York Foundling. A huge foster care agency which has many different arms in NYC. It has been around for a long time and offers a lot of different opportunities for growth. I will be a therapist in a brand new program. It is a very intensive program where I will only have 8 families and I will be going into their homes to do therapy with them. I'm excited and extremely nervous : ) I will be required to use my Spanish a whole stinkin lot which means I will be incredibly stressed out. But it will be good.

More news later. Our internet got zapped by lightning the other night during the crazy lightning storm. So hopefully it will be fixed on Monday and I will tell you all about everything : ) But I had to let you all know (if anyone actually reads and cares : )

have a splendid weekend!

Saturday Adventures...

Saturday Dan, Julie, Zaneta and I explored Wave Hill. A park kinda place located up in Riverdale in the Bronx.
It has two houses on it...
One is full of strange art. Such as this table display accompanied by a wolf. Julie barred her teeth and defended us, the courageous girl.
And this piece of "art" which was made out of wood...and felt...and glass plates... and was very odd...
And outside there was NATURE! Not like Central Park, trying so hard to be an oasis in the middle of a teeming metropolis, but real nature! There were no cars, no high rises lurking on the edge just begging you to come back to the grind...
We were happy. Because we had missed nature.
I still heart polaroids a lot. And I still want a camera Dan!
In nature there is apparently a plant that looks like moose antlers. Dan was frightened of it.
There was also a gazebo in the middle of nature for people to sit in and relax and be attacked by spiders because they don't like to share their nature with big people.
Profound, no? That's nature for ya, taking things like words and throwing them right back in your face.
Happy yellow flowers. I heart flowers.
Then we tried to take jumping pictures... and it didn't really work.
But that's okay because then we sat on a nice cool bus for a long time and went to Arthur Avenue. Have you heard of it? It's the little Italy of the Bronx. It is at least 10 times better than the little Italy in Manhattan and not full of annoying tourists, but definitely full of better food and for a better price.
So we ate dinner. This is the only picture I took because after I opened the menu my mind exploded and I couldn't think of anything but Italian food and the deliciousness I was consuming. Their bread and olive oil? Choice. Their spicy meat-a-balls? Perfectly hot. Their Penne Vodka? Swoon! I stuffed myself silly and still had enough for large lunch today. Anyways... It was delish and if you ever want real Italian food in NYC don't even bother with the joke of little Italy in Manhattan. Just pop on over to Arthur Ave. in the B-X (the Bronx, and it's not scary people) and eat some yummy goodness.

It was a gooooood day.

Convincing...

I keep trying to convince Dan to let me buy a polaroid camera. Maybe these will help convince him?
Washington monument
The rotunda in the Capitol

Don't those awesome pictures look even more awesome poladroided up? I think so too. Come on Danny! Just one more camera????
