Soooo Sick!!!

So last weekend Dan and I babysat his little 8 month old nephew, who apparently was super sick! We got there and he had snot running down his face, he was crying, he had pink eye nasties, he had a rash on his face. He was just not happy.

The next day Dan's mom had us all take some preventative medicine things and I thought I was good to go! Little did I know, that child packed a whopper of a cold!!!! Monday night I get off the phone with dan and the back of my throat starts to hurt... Tuesday morning I wake up just feeling awful with chills and aches and a sore throat but some how I made it through all 8 hours of class. Wed I get up, no more chills or aches, sore throat still there a little and feeling a bit heady but basically better than the day before. Thursday I get up and go to my internship feeling a bit under the weather, my sinuses are completely plugged but it's not painful but by that night I wanted to tear my head off! Friday I get up and leave a message for my supervisor that I'm going to be late but I still trudge all the way to the Bronx (40 min with 15 min of walking (which is a lot in the rain when you're sick)). I come home early and feel a little better and go to the doctor who tells me I just have to ride it out. I take a nap... AAAHHH!!! My ears are plugged and hurting, I'm coughing, I have major sniffles. I'm dying!!! The whole weekend I felt awful. I went and stayed at Dan's cause I hate being alone when I'm sick and his mom is a nurse so she knew just what to do : )

Sorry for the very long and boring story, but that was my exciting adventure this weekend!

Go Lions!!!

The cheerleaders and the pep band, who were absolutely ridiculous and were all definitely freshmen.
I stick my tongue out when I take pictures, and it was sunny thus the squinty eyes look.
The not so big crowd of mostly parents and families.
Our team, who at least in the program all looked like freshmen or sophmores as well.
So last Saturday Dan and I and a few of my columbia pals all went to our first football game of the season. We left at half time. I never realized how good I had it at BYU where at least football is a big deal and we're pretty good most of the time. Columbia did win but I think it was an anomaly. Oh well, good thing I'm not that into football : )

Fashion Week

In front of the Tent!
Alarmingly tall ridiculous Geisha shoes
It's a girl thing, that's for dang sure!
Designer from Project Runway.

So New York City kicks everybody else's city's trash to the curb and we have super cool things such as fashion week. Me and a few girlfriends went a couple of days and scoped it out trying to see famous people. We did get a lot of pictures of famous people but they were all editors and whatnot who we didn't really recognize. Then today my friend Julie and I left early to go grocery shopping and we missed a bunch of designers from Project Runway and a bunch of models from America's Next Top Model (one of my guilty pleasures). Oh well. It was till sweet to go and hang out and pretend like we were in the know : )

Brooklyn Bridge

Korean War Memorial (Dan had to educate me a bit on when and what the Korean War was, I know I'm dumb)
Firefighters memorial in Battery Park
Ground Zero. There were some huge spotlights there all week in memory of September 11th.
The Brooklyn Bridge!
I got some mad photography skills right?

So last weekend Dan and I went and walked around the bottom of Manhattan. So we saw Battery Park, the World Trade Center site, Wall Street? and then we went down to Brooklyn and walked back over to Manhattan on the Brooklyn Bridge. It was gorgeous. Not too hot, a light breeze and with the sun setting there was great lighting. Finally we ended the night at the Papaya King with some delish hotdogs. 2 hotdogs and a papaya drink for $3.50 (recession special : ) YUMMY!

I just like pictures

Little Italy
Our friends Charlie and Nate visited us the other week. Waaay good times : )
Last night I went to Sasha's softball game on the Great Lawn at Central Park. The sunset was absolutely amazing!!!!!!

So since moving to New York I have experienced the same phenomenon I experienced in Europe. I want to take pictures of everything because there are so many gorgeous sunsets and beautiful buildings every where!!! So here's a little post with a few new pictures I took this week.

The End

Oh how I will miss those cool days of summer. Relaxing in Greenwich, getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Now with one day of classes under my belt I am sucked back into the constant stress of the life of a student. Goodbye lazy days of summer... hello grad school.

School

The dreaded day has arrived. Tomorrow at 9 am I will commence my first real Columbia class. I have been trying to look over the syllabuses and I am supposed to have over $500 worth of books... gross. This is going to be interesting!
