4th of July

This year was a chill 4th for us. My friend Ashley and I went running with another girl from church in the morning. Then we saw a matinee of Spiderman with the Stevenson's. Then we came home and took a nap! Best part of the day in my opinion. And finally we made the treck out to Staten Island to see those silly Staten Island Yankees.

We barely caught the last ferry going out before they shut it down for a few hours due to the fireworks on the Hudson.
The boys chatted on the way over
Got a nice view of Lady Liberty. Is there anything more American than seeing her on the 4th of July?
And then we watched some baseball.
Right on the harbor

With our silly friends
Here is proof that I went!
We left before the game ended so we saw no fireworks. I always forget that since the SI Yankees aren't all that great, they usually take around 12 innings for someone to win and we all had work in the morning and didn't want to stay any later.
Freedom tower is getting big!
Happy Birthday America!

Family Time

The weekend before Poppa's baptism, she came out to NYC and hung with me for the weekend. She tires me out every single time she comes! I can't keep up with her! We went around to some yarn shops and got her some things and just enjoyed being in NYC. We ended our Saturday by stopping in Washington Square Park while waiting for our reservation time at Grano Trattoria. There was a lively Indian festival in the park which provided some entertainment.

Poppa got yarn to make me a lap blanket and started going at it right there in the park.
I'm kind of in love with this picture with her hands...

The finished product! I can't wait for winter now!
Then the next weekend, I took a cab to the airport to go to NC.
And got picked up by these two cute girls!

And got pedicures with the older girls
And went shoe shopping
And of course got to watch the Poppa get baptized : )
I love me some family time!

Spa Castle

Memorial day we ended up going to Spa Castle. Basically the most relaxing place in NYC.

Not so happy before faces. Extremely relaxed and happy after faces!
Dan did another head shaving trick

And we got McDonald's ice cream cones for the ride back home.
It was a very relaxing day!

Moving on...

I've talked about our couple friends here. We adore them and have so much fun chatting and arguing. Here in NYC nobody really lives near family. So your friends become your family. You love each other and help each other because you're NYC Family. One of the couples then had to go and have a baby and I'm pretty sure we all fell in love. Ashley and I got to go over early the next day at the hospital and see little Annie. Sooo ridiculously cute!
And Lindsay looked amazing for having just given birth!
Then later we went over and got a shot with all of us minus Scott (who was in UT) and Ashley H who is taking the picture.
The girls
Then they had to go an move less than two weeks after having Annie! Robert got placed in St. Louis for his residency and it was time for them to move on. The day before they moved I went over and held Annie for almost 2 hours without sharing (sorry Abbie!). I just wanted to get my Annie snuggles in before we "see you later!"
Lindsay! I'm so excited you guys get to move on and start in a new place with your new sweet girl. Make sure she knows how much we all love her. And I think a girls trip is in order sometime this year!

Poppa's Baptism

This past weekend, I got to go out to North Carolina and see my Grandma (Poppa) get baptized. It was an amazing experience for all of us and I am so happy that I got to be there and share in Poppa's special time.
My mom and Aunt Carey with Poppa
The grand-kids (minus Spencer)
My Uncle Mike baptized her and Connor confirmed her the next day at church.
The Parrish Clan
Representin' the Ames Clan
Happy Poppa!

There weren't any nice baptism outfits, so we ran out to Kohl's the day before and found her a sweet white ensemble (with lots of layers underneath).
Hugs and Kisses

It was such a wonderful experience. The spirit was strong and I know without a doubt that Heavenly Father loves my grandma and knows exactly who she is. I'm so happy for her and for all the learning and growing she has to look forward to!
