The Engagement

The day started off being stuck behind a garbage truck assaulting our olfactory senses...
We surveyed the local beauty
We happily hiked, searching for a vista of the goodness of the earth
We reached that vista and Dan was so inspired by the beauty...
He proposed!!!!!

I am sure you all have heard the story, but here it is for posterity's sake : )

October 13, 2008

Dan and I have Columbus Day off (thanks Senor Columbus!) We make plans to go on a hike to experience the loveliness of New England's fall colors. Dan gets a suggestion of a nice short hike to a beautiful vista. We drive, we hike, we sit and eat. While eating lunch on the cute bench, swarms of people gather to also enjoy the beauty of the earth. Dan starts to wonder if we'll ever be alone and he'll get his chance! We finish lunch, I sweetly ask "Well what do you want to do now?" Dan replies, "Well umm... let's just sit for a while, no need to hurry right?" We sit, we wait, the people clear out. I look at Dan. His heart is pounding so hard I can see it through his shirt, and there is no color in his face whatsoever (poor thing). He starts his little spiel (you know, the one every guy says to butter you up and make you feel real good about yourself before they ask you to be tied to them for eternity : ) and mom keeps texting. I know he's trying to get some momentum going, and she must know what's going on... but here she is trying to act all non-chalant through text : ) (love you mama!). So I finally stop looking at the phone. Dan fumbles with his backpack trying to act like he's getting ready to start reading or something, and he pops down on that one knee and says lots of nice things (neither of us really remember what was said at that point much) and asks me to be his wife. I'm crying, nodding incessantly and love is every where!

It was an unforgettable day : )

Pepsico Park Part 3

This was titled "Eve" and I absolutely loved it. So curvy and beautiful!
Dan's favorite photo idea... such a boy : )
Trees...
Sunlight...
Goodbye for now! Stay tuned for another post after our Monday adventure. I think we're going on a hike or something fun cause it's Columbus day and we both of the day off. Thanks Mr. Columbus!

Pepsico Park Part 2

Gorgeous ponds
RED leaves!!!
So tender : )
Watch out!
We are lovers

Pepsico Park Part 1

I have become amazing at packing overnight bags
Dan bought the Charlie Brown Holiday Collection=Super happy holiday times!
On Saturday we went to the Pepsico headquarters where they have this beautiful park full of statues and whatnot. Dan's favorite as a child was of course the Bear.
I heart taking pictures : )
I really should have been a greek goddess. I have the perfect curves for one ; )

So this is part 1 (there will be more pictures in a matter of minutes) of the pepsico park adventure. The day was beautiful! Perfect for wearing jeans and a little sweater. We went in the late afternoon and so the lighting was great. There was a bridal party wandering around taking pictures which is always fun to oogle at. But it was fun to walk around and see the start of the changing of the leaves. I can't wait for full on fall in New England!! It's going to be awesome!

Honk if you hate life?

I love it when people hold down their horn for forever outside of my apartment and think that it's going to do something... cause it probably won't!

I get to see my boo today : ) I like him.

The Glow

So I take the subway to my internship in the Bronx 3 days a week. I live in what's called Morningside which is actually Harlem, Columbia just started calling it Morningside so parents wouldn't freak out about their children being in Harlem. Technically I am within the Harlem border in my little apartment, however, Harlem is becoming gentrified and Columbia is taking over and kicking everyone out. Anyways...off my soap box and on to the real story : )

So the other day I head down the lovely 125 ABCD subway station. I meander down the platform and stop at my favorite spot up near the front (so when I get off I'm closer to my internship building). As I am standing there reading my book, a man comes up to me and sweetly asks "Excuse me miss, but would you like to have dinner with me?" I'm pretty sure he was a schizophrenic or mentally handicapped in some way many cause you know I'm a social worker and I just know these things : ) I kindly say "No thanks" he gives me a little nod, and quickly walks away.

I must just have that glow about me!

Avoiding...

I'm avoiding doing work...

New favorite song: Who knows? Natasha Bedingfield, Pocketful of Sunshine. Listen somewhere some how and you will love it.

This weekend my friend Julie and I went and saw the Broadway show Grease and it was horrible!! I didn't think that broadway produced bad shows but apparently they do. There was no energy, the actors were just actors, they weren't their characters, and we couldn't hear the music sometimes and there was just no power!! It was quite disappointing as I had a major obsession with Grease and Titanic in 6th grade. I was excited to see all of my dreams of Danny Zucko come true in real life : ) oh well.

Ummm... life is good. Midterms are going to start hitting pretty soon and all of the various projects and whatnot so I think my life is about to get real sucky. But this week I arranged to go into my internship on Wednesday instead of Friday and since Monday is Columbus day which I have off I totally have a week long break from my internship! wahoo! super excited for that. Sometimes it makes me sad that in less than 9 months I have to be a real adult and go to work every single day for the rest of my life. sigh, oh life. It never stops does it?
