This morning was beautiful. I left the apartment right at 8am, dropped some of our wedding thank you's in the mail box and briskly made my way to my subway station.
It was garbage day today which means that there were many disgusting smells to flavor my walk. The places that smell the worst are where the garbage truck has just picked up. This means that all the nast from the bags that broke or the ooze that dripped out is now baking on the sidewalk and being pecked at by dozens of disgusting pigeon's.
Frequently the abuelitas will be out hosing down the sidewalk in front of their building because they're sweet like that. As I began walking past a van parked on the street I "saw" a man hosing down the street, meaning I saw the top of a man over the van and heard the sound of running water.
However, as I walked past the gap between the cars I caught a quick eye full of not a rubber hose washing down the street but a more organic... natural version of washing down the street. I quickly looked away but not before I was able to take it all in, and I mean ALL.
Oh Harlem Heights, how you entertain me.
