My street's cooler than your street...

Fall is really coming. Today it rained all day. One of those nice sprinkles where it doesn't fully warrant wearing galoshes but you wouldn't look dumb if you did. I wanted to get crackin' on getting this year's round of fall pictures so I climbed out on our fire escape and this is what I got. And they all look kinda similar, but I was playing with the different effects available in Picasa (it's the closest I have to photoshop right now!).

My toesies and Mr. Thomson's ginormous scrub bottoms which I steal as often as possible because A) they're super comfy because they're waaaay too big and B) Danny boy thinks I look cute in them. Comfy and cute? heck yes I'm gonna live in them!

Anyways I've been thinking lately as I walk to the subway in the morning that I really like my street. Sure there are siren's running at all hours of the day and night and sometimes they seem a bit excessive, and of course there's the random man peeing on the street, and the men who hit on you in Spanish and Ebonics, as well as baby mama's yelling at the baby daddy's. But really, there are so many families out and about on the street (which makes me feel safe), there's a real sense of community (even if I'm not really a part of it, what with my skin color and all), there's diversity, there's no pretentiousness (like you'll frequently find below 125th), and let's be honest, if I leave the apartment and am not called at once the entire day, I'm gonna wonder if my hair looks bad or if my outfit is horrible, those cat calls are bit of a pick me up! So in conclusion, I'll leave you where I started. My street's cooler than your street.
